This post is about 250 words.
It’s been a few months since I published an update like this, but with back-to-school, Boy Scouts, the election, and the release of Gears of War 4, it’s been a busy Autumn.
Oh yeah, and I’ve been doing massive amounts of editing.
I haven’t been idle, even if this blog has been a bit quiet. To remedy that, I’ve uploaded excerpts to the site.
Having gone through several revisions, these are pretty polished, though they’re not final-final. Once the entire second or third draft is completed, I’ll need to revisit these to ensure cohesiveness and consistency of fine detail.
I couldn’t have gotten to this point without the feedback of some trusted readers. As I mentioned in that post, it’s equal parts terrifying and rewarding to share (OK, perhaps it’s a bit more terrifying, but I’m trying to be inspiring). But your manuscript will never make it to the final draft stage without readers like this – or at least, it shouldn’t.
Today’s agenda, aside from some housework, is to finalize Chapters 3-5 for my trusted readers. Chapter 3 is done; 4 needs a conclusion, and 5 (goes to check status of the writing), needs some re-work, since I’ve changed the motivation of the monster. Time to get moving.
Don’t write in a vacuum!
